I've been on a history tour and several ghost tours. I've always had a good time and have experienced some paranormal activity. If you're not into ghosts, they have an excellent history tour during the day. Be sure to check their times on their website. This is a private residence, so if you're not attending an event, you're not allowed on the property. Give this place a chance and learn some neat history about Springfield's own castle!

Neat place, but left a little to be desired. I thought when it said this was a restored castle it would have been full of antique furniture etc. That was not the case. We went on the ghost tour and I found the evidence to be really lacking too. This tour is definitely not for anyone who can't do stairs. I read some other reviews saying you could see the downstairs if not able to go upstairs, but the tour didn't really go through much of the downstairs. I'd skip it if you have anyone elderly with you who can't do stairs or walk long distances. The rooms they showed us seemed even less haunted by the remnants of other things the castle tried to be. There were leftover exhibits like a medieval kitchen scene in the basement, giant rock monster, giant toy blocks that just really made it hokey and seem not cared about and leftover from some other gimmick they once tried. Video really needs to be redone in the beginning and the tour guides really need to be microphoned. It was very hard to hear anything being said. We did like doing blackouts and going in the service tunnel. That was the scariest part!

Great experience! The ghosts are present. All areas felt fine except the upstairs room. There was something wrong there. The whole time, you get a feeling that there is a presence. And you can witness this with your eyes, but you need a good camera. Somebody caught a face in a hallway. My mother witnessed a little boy running accrossed the room. This is all 100% true.

When you think about a castle people it seems like a fairytale but when you actually go to this Castle you feel like a fairytale it on the outside looks mysterious yet beautiful the detail and everything is just amazing and when you walk up the stairs it gives you a feeling like anxious you just can't explain it anticipation and the history on this Castle is so amazing that as you listen to the narrator that walks you through it she actually owns that house and a lot of history in the house being told on her Torres it is a tragic yet fascinating story about that time in time in general you know back in the day when they had castles and it's so fascinating to learn and I wish I had more time to spend there it was a great place to take me and my kids know they enjoyed it

Great place to learn and see some history of not only the Knights of pythian but also of the US military. They've really done a fantastic job of restoring an aging beauty.
