About Us:
Leopold Gallery was founded by Paul Dorrell in 1991. Prior to that, Dorrell worked as Director's Assistant at the Hill-Stead Museum of French Impressionism in Farmington, CT. The mission of Leopold is the promotion of regional artists on a national level. We work with private and corporate collectors on a daily basis.
As an art consultant, Dorrell oversaw the commissioning of all works for the new H&R Block World Headquarters. He has also served as consultant for the National D-Day Memorial in Virginia; the University of Kansas Hospital; DLR Group Architecture in Chicago; TVS Architecture in Atlanta; the Mayo Clinic; the City of Hartford, Connecticut; G.E. Aircraft Engines in Cincinnati; and scores of private, civic and corporate collectors. He consulted on a monument of Dwight D. Eisenhower for the Capitol Building in Washington, DC, and was the art consultant for the 2007 Kansas Inaugural.
Dorrell's first published book was Living the Artist's Life. This guidebook for artists has received national acclaim, and earned Dorrell a column in The Artist's Magazine, and Absolute Arts. It also took him on a tour of 60 cities, where he won praise for his talks at venues such as The Art Students League of New York and at dozens of bookstores. He has been interviewed on some 35 Public Radio stations and in over 40 newspapers and magazines.
The staff of Leopold is committed to promoting regional culture, and structuring mentoring programs for underprivileged teenage artists. We place a high priority on both objectives. Please drop by for a visit; you'll find we are the antithesis of art snobbery.
