About Us

For thirty years, the Ella Carothers Dunnegan Gallery of Art has delighted visitors as a premier showcase of outstanding western and contemporary art, open to the public and free of charge.

Funded by a trust established by THB Dunnegan Jr. and his brother John Dunnegan, and originally located above the Polk County Bank on the Bolivar square, the Dunnegan Gallery has always focused on a directive put forth by the Dunnegan brothers: to bring art to the people of the Ozarks.

Nice collection but only half of the place is usually open. Don't know how they stay in business though.

For such a small town, this is a great simple art museum. The hours are odd but then again this is a small town. They don't have the need to be open 5 days a week because there are not that many people here in this town. Really enjoy this place. Works great with kids because it is not to overwhelming!!!
