The Joachim Loop Trail in Herculaneum, Missouri, was constructed during 2007-2008 and officially opened in the Spring of 2008. The trail consists of a long loop of 1.1 miles and a shorter loop of .71 miles in length. A mini-loop of 0.32 miles extends from the trailhead into the flats north of the trailhead and along the bank of the Joachim Creek. The trail is 10 feet in width and is composed of crushed white rock. The trail passes through a wetlands area, a typical woodland area of mature trees before emerging into a grassland area. The trails are limited to walking, running and cycling. Future plans call for the extension of the trail to areas near the Mississippi River in Herculaneum. The trail is owned and maintained by the City of Herculaneum. Parking is available at the trailhead.
